Allen West: Tea Party Statist and no friend of Liberty or the Constitution

The below article is from 2011, but since Allen West is trying to make some kind of a comeback I feel I should warn Tea Party Activists that he is a Tea Party statist, a fake conservative and no friend to Liberty and the Constitution. He defends the Patriot Act, which portions of it destroy our Constitutional Civil Liberties. And he defends the NDAA that allows indefinite detention of Americans, though he does this by saying the NDAA bill does NOT allow for indefinite detention of Americans when every politician says it does. Denial anyone? Or subterfuge?

ARTICLE STARTS HERE:
As a black conservative and Republican, Allen West is not your typical Tea Party member. West rode the Tea Party wave all the way to the U.S. House last November from Florida’s 22nd congressional district. He is the first black Republican to represent Florida since Reconstruction.
But in addition to being a member of both the Tea Party Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus, Allen West is also a Tea Party statist.
Before his election to Congress, West was a lieutenant colonel in the army until his retirement after an investigation into his harsh interrogation techniques while fighting in the Iraq War resulted in a $5,000 fine. After his “service” in the military, West worked for a defense contractor as an advisor to the Afghan National Army. He run unsuccessfully in 2008 for the congressional seat he now holds. After speaking at CPAC in 2010 and being endorsed by Sarah Palin, West won the 2010 election against the same Democratic candidate who had earlier defeated him. He was the keynote speaker at the recent 2011 CPAC. West is a favorite of Tea Party members for his attacks on President Obama and government spending and his support for the military and the war on terror.
I have never been too impressed with the Tea Party movement, especially when it comes to issues like the war on drugs and U. S. foreign policy. And although most Tea Party supporters claim they are opposed to big government, in poll after poll a majority of Tea Party Republicans say they have a favorable view of former president George W. Bush. The George W. Bush who doubled the national debt, gave us the first trillion-dollar deficit, drastically expanded Medicare, and not only began two wars that unnecessarily shed American blood and drained the treasury, but waged another war on the domestic front””on the Bill of Rights.
I don’t know how West feels about Bush, but I do know that he is a Tea Party statist who supports the welfare state, the warfare state, and the national security state.
I want to briefly look at these in reverse order, focusing mainly on the welfare state that West would claim to oppose. Read the rest here and read about all the big government stuff Allen West supports.

Foreign Policy Showdown - Rand Paul Emphatically States: Obama Will Not Get Away With a Syria Strike On My Watch

1971, Secretary of State John Kerry famously questioned: “How can you ask a man to be the last one to die for a mistake?” I would ask Secretary Kerry how can you ask a man to be the first one to die for a mistake? That is what he would be doing if the U.S. intervened in the Syrian civil war.

While the death and destruction stemming from the Syrian civil war is difficult to watch, I believe the U.S. must exercise maximum restraint and uphold the constitutional requirement that grants Congress, not the president, the right to declare war. The president’s announcement that he will seek congressional approval before unilaterally going to war is a step in the right direction.

From a strategic standpoint, there are three questions that should always be asked and sufficiently answered before going to war: What is the U.S. national interest? What is the military objective? What is the exit strategy?

We should also be skeptical of the Islamic rebels that our nation would be fighting alongside. Our knowledge of the relationship with these rebels is murky at best. What reason do we have to believe that they have America’s best interest? The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend. On one side, we have Assad; on the other, we have Al-Qaeda. On one side we have Islamic jihadists; on the other, we have Christians. We have priests and civilians kidnapped and killed by Islamic rebels. It seems on all sides we have chaos and it is unclear if any side will, in the end, be a friend to the United States.

What The Media Isn't Telling You About Syria (Watch Video)

Those wanting to go to war with Syria need to really think about what is going on there, and what we are not being told by our government and the media. Not to mention it is Unconstitutional to go to war with a nation when there is no direct imminent threat to the United States. And Democrats Obama, John Kerry, and Nancy Pelosi and Republicans John McCain and Lindsey Graham are on the same team? (read more).

Add Eric Cantor and John Boehner to Obama's team to attack Syria with air strikes. (Read about it here)

At the very least this is going to incite the Cold War all over again. Should I mention our troops will be fighting alongside Al Qaeda?

At the worst...yes. WWIII is a strong potential...and that is the unfortunate reality.

OBAMA BYPASSING CONGRESS TO ENACT NEW TAXES

Surprised?

Obama-shrugObama is sidestepping Congress once again. This time, the unconstitutional act is in an effort to raise $6 Billion in new taxes to put WiFi in public schools across America. Rather than waste his time with the Constitution and Congress, Obama is going straight to the FCC to lobby for the new taxes. The new tax will apply to every American who uses a cellphone.

Please urge Governor McDonnell to keep his promise and reject any legislation that seeks to accommodate “Obamanocare.”

Message From Bob Marshall To You For Governor Bob McDonnell

Dear Fellow Virginians,

Please urge Governor McDonnell to keep his promise and reject any legislation that seeks to accommodate “Obamanocare.”  The “Affordable Care Act” does not require States to run their own Health Care Exchanges.  At least 26 states have refused to set up exchanges which are website marketplaces of health insurance plans meeting federal criteria. (Google: “Virginia Health Care Exchange.” Several private marketplaces already operate).

If states refuse to set up their own exchanges, it will probably take longer for the federal government to deform healthcare and perhaps postpone enforcement of mandates requiring abortion pills and “medical” inquiries regarding which homes have guns.

In 2010, Governor McDonnell’s Secretary of Health set up a Commission to study health care “reform” with a $1 Million grant.  I asked Secretary Hazel why Virginia was proceeding with government-run health care while we were challenging the law in federal court.  I was told Virginia must be “prepared.”

Governor McDonnell has publicly stated he would not set up a Virginia exchange. Now he appears willing to sign bills which authorize state involvement while purporting to provide state “oversight” of a federal exchange. In reality the bills commit Virginia resources, including personnel from several state agencies, claiming (without guaranty) that Virginia will be reimbursed by the federal government (still our tax money).  If this is not a state insurance exchange then what is it?

Instead of Virginia exercising its right to refuse to set up a state exchange as other states are doing, Virginia will use its authority, resources and personnel to grease the Obamanocare skids and objectionable mandates.

Several bills have already passed the General Assembly. Senate Bill 922, introduced February 11, 2013, passed the House of Delegates.  It states in part:

Section 32.1-16 (b): “The Department shall be compensated for expenses incurred in providing such services. “   Does this mean compensation by state agencies or Washington?  In either case, it involves additional tax money.

Section 38.2-326 (A)(i) states in part: “full funding is available.”  Funding from where?

Section 38.2-326 (A) (ii) states in part:  “technology infrastructure, including integration with federal, state, and other necessary entities, is made available to the commission by or through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or the Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources…”  Will funding come from the feds or the state? What are the costs? Understand that “made available,” does not mean “provided free of charge.”  If the feds “provide,” what will they charge Virginia taxpayers?

Section 38.2-326 (B) states in part:  “the Commission may contract with and enter into a memoranda of understanding to carry out its plan management functions with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or any other state or federal agency…”   A MOU with another state agency simply would obligate more Virginia tax money and resources from the other state agency to pay for costs associated with the plan.

Section 38.2-326 (C) states in part: “the Commission’s obligation to perform plan management functions described in subsection A is contingent upon receiving federal funding sufficient to pay the operating expenses necessary to carry out the plan management of functions.  The Commission shall seek full reimbursement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for such expenses.  “Seeking full reimbursement does not mean obtaining full reimbursement.   Without wording which states, “The SCC shall not perform plan management functions unless all Virginia expenses are paid in full by the Federal government” this section does not assure plan management functions will be paid for by the feds (still our money).   Even if the Commission has no obligation to perform plan management functions, there is no prohibition on their performing plan functions.

Section 32.2-326 (E) states in part that “Technology resources provided by the Commission in carrying out the plan management functions shall be limited to existing commission technology support functions…” How much will this cost Virginia taxpayers?

Section 32.2-326 (F) states in part that “The Commission shall make available to the public on its website a written report on the implementation and performance of its plan management functions during the preceding  fiscal year, including, at a minimum, the manner in which all funds utilized for its plan management functions were expended.”   How much will this cost the State to carry out this function? How many state employees will be needed? Will others need to be hired?

If you do not want Virginia to speed up compliance with “Obamanocare” please call (804) 786-2211 or email the Governor here: http://www.governor.virginia.gov/aboutthegovernor/contactgovernor.cfm

Ask him to veto any legislation that accommodates “Obamanocare.”

Thank you for your help!

bob marshall

P.S. I thank Dr. Mark Berg for his help and insights on this bill.

Presidential Endorsement: Virgil Goode and Gary Johnson endorsed by the Virginia Liberty Party

The Virginia Liberty Party Endorses Virgil Goode of the Constitution Party and Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party for President on November 6th in the General Election.

Virgil and Gary, though not perfect have shown themselves defenders of Liberty and defending our natural born liberties based on their records in office. They are against Federal Healthcare, a De facto National ID and Indefinite Detention of American Citizens that are only suspected of terrorism, as well as many more great Liberty issues.

For true limited government conservatives and libertarians we suggest you vote for Virgil Goode and Gary Johnson. Because Romney is not a limited government liberty loving conservative. Romney is no limited government conservative that stands for personal Liberty.

And for limited government Christians who have issue with some of Johnson's views then vote Virgil Goode.

For Liberals and Progressives, realize that Obama is not one of you, he is Wall Street owned, as evident by his cabinet.  So progressives, though we don't endorse her because most (but not all of her stances) are contrary to ours. We ask you to vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party instead of Obama.

All Our Republican Virginia Congressmen and our Senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb Voted for Spy Drones

What if you were told that Congress had just passed a bill called the FAA Reauthorization Act. And slipped into the bill was a law that orders the Federal Aviation Administration to develop regulations for testing and licensing of commercial drones by the year 2015. Also you were told that Obama is expected to sign it into law.

Would you believe it? Would you think I was talking about the plot in a novel about a bad dystopian society? The short lived cult classic Dark Angel had such flying spy drones called hover drones that spied on the people.

Or would you believe this was reality? Impossible you might say, this is America. Why would our Congress and President allow flying spy machines to keep a watch on us.

Well I am afraid to say its reality. Both houses of the Us Congress just passed this bill, its expected to land on the President's desk and he is expected to sign it into law.

Our leaders are supposed to protect our liberties and privacy. That's what the leaders of the Democrats and Republicans tell us. The Republicans say they are against big government, but what else are Spy Drones.

Republicans voted overwhelmingly for this, with eight voting against it, one who is Presidential Candidate Ron Paul (see the record of his vote here). And the Democrats overwhelmingly voted against it with two voting for it.

   Ayes: 223 (Democrat: 2Republican: 221)
  Nays: 196 (Democrat: 185Republican: 11)
  Abstained: 13 (Democrat: 5Republican: 8)

All eight Republican's in our Virginia Congressional Delegation failed us and voted for the measure. Both our Virginia Democratic US Senators voted for it. All three of Virginia's Congressional Democrats voted against it.

Col. Karen Kwiatkowski Blasts Bob Goodlatte for unapologetically backing SOPA

image
Conservatives are fed-up with big government. Yet, Bob Goodlatte behaves like government isn't big enough.
Consider this --Bob Goodlatte spent 2011 CO-AUTHORINGand INTRODUCING the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
SOPA makes the federal government EVEN BIGGER.Internet Freedom Enemy #1
If passed, SOPA will dramatically increase the federal government’s role in our lives, online and offline.
It authorizes the Attorney General to block websites accused of copyright infringement from search engines and ISPs. And it allows the Attorney General to “commence action” against them without a court order.
SOPA will result in fewer independent websites, blogs, media sources, start-ups and tech industry jobs. And as a result, lower quality.
How will it do this, you ask? Simple. It increases the cost of doing business for U.S. tech firms, payment network providers and advertisers.  In addition to increasing legal and compliance costs for small businesses, it also increases the size and scope of the federal government.
SOPA expands the State Department, Attorney General's Office, Copyright Office and other agencies and creates a new set of bureaucrats.
